BVI Music Festival 2013 is Back by Rhymers on the Beach in Cane Garden Bay!

The 13th annual BVI Music Festival kicks-off on the beach in Cane Garden Bay on Friday, May 24th, with great music, food and entertainment.

Returning to its original location at Rhymers on the beach, this year’s music festival promises to be a fun event where attendees can dance the night away to vibrant performances with a drink in hand, toes in the sand, and feet in the sea.

Friday night acts consist of DJ Wiz, Razor Blades, Xtreme Band, King Short Shirt, Baron, Volume International and Claudette Peters.

Saturday night DJ Dre, Mackabee, Glen Washington, Assassin aka Agent Sasko, Da’Ville, Ritical and other local acts will bring added heat to the stage with their high energy performances.

Bringing down the curtains on Sunday night will be DJ Birch, Salsa Sunday (Featuring Latin DJs and MCs), Blue Essence, B’more, Jalena, HeatWave, Gramps Morgan and Shai.

Rotary International District 7020 Conference bring hundreds of visitors to the BVI!

The 2013 Rotary International District 7020 Conference will be held for the first time in the British Virgin Islands, bringing over 500 visiting Rotarians from 10 different Caribbean countries to our shores.

The International District 7020 Conference under the theme “Experience the Passion of Rotary” will be held from 13th to 19th May 2013. Countries that will be represented at the conference are Anguilla, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Maarten, St. Martin/St. Barth’s, Turks and Caicos Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands.

“The BVI Tourist Board is pleased to be a part of this fantastic event as it brings hundreds of visitors to the Territory and generates added business for our tourism sector. Based on this event many of our hotels in the Road Town area, as well as other areas have been booked out. Our taxi drivers will receive an increase in business and our restaurants throughout the Territory will experience an increase in traffic. Persons visiting for the District Conference will also be able to experience the BVIs’ culture and get a taste of our history by visiting historical sites and other unique aspects of the BVI,” said Ms. Sharon Flax-Mars, Director of Tourism. “This event is headed by our very own Vance Lewis and his BVI team and provides great benefits for the BVI as a whole. We at the BVI Tourist Board are more than happy to welcome this event to our shores and would like to thank the Rotarians of the Rotary International District 7020 for choosing the BVI as the destination for the 2013 District 7020 Conference.”

Visitors from around the world travel to the BVI to celebrate with the locals at the BVI Full Moon Parties held at Bomba Shack in Carrot Bay and at Trellis Bay, Beef Island. Over the last couple years the BVI Tourist Board has brought the party directly to the tourists in various countries by holding the BVI parties in different countries and during various events overseas.

What are some of your suggestions on things you would like to see added or changed at our BVI Full Moon Parties? Inspired by the already famous Full Moon Parties held at Bomba Shack and Trellis Bay in the BVI, this event attracts Puerto Rico’s top travel agents, local press members and VIP fans of the BVI who want to know more about the BVI’s offerings prior to Puerto Rico’s summer travel season.

Hundreds gathered at “Down Town” in Puerto Rico on April 25th, 2013 to celebrate the BVI’s Full Moon Party with staff and friends from the BVI Tourist Board. The crowd danced to the sounds of Lashing Dogs while sipping on local drinks such as BVI’s own Pain Killer and Bushwacker.

There will be a full moon on the rise this spring, when the BVI Tourist Board puts on its third annual BVI Full Moon Party at Downtown in San Juan, PR on Thursday, April 25, 2013.

Inspired by the already famous Full Moon Parties held at Bomba Shack and Trellis Bay in the BVI, this event attracts Puerto Rico’s top travel agents, local press members and VIP fans of the BVI who want to know more about the BVI’s offerings prior to Puerto Rico’s summer travel season.

“This is an event that Puerto Rico’s travel community always looks forward to, not just because it’s a lot of fun, but most importantly, it creates a great deal of buzz about the BVI in this market,” said Tomás Dardet, press and marketing rep for the BVI Tourist Board’s Puerto Rico and Latin America Region. “This is even more important to us at this time of the year, leading up to the island’s summer travel season.”

Mr. Laurent Petit was named the winner of the 2013 Spanish Town Fisherman’s Jamboree

The Fisherman’s Jamboree came to an end on Sunday, March 31st, 2013 where Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Black Fin Marlin and Yellow Tail Marlin were caught during the two day event. The winner of the fishing tournament Mr. Laurent Petit on vessel ‘Yellow Whip’ out of St. Martin received first prize for catching the heaviest Wahoo during the tournament weighing in at 46.2 lbs. As the winner he received $5,000 plus other prizes. Mr. Petit also received the third prize of $1,000 for the heaviest overall (Wahoo) catch weighing in at 76.1 lbs. Mr. Herbert O’Neal and Mr. Nicholas Cooper on vessel ‘Lady Evelyn’ out of Tortola won the second prize, catching the second heaviest Wahoo for the tournament weighing in at 42.3 lbs. The best angler title went to Mr. Laurent Petit, the best female angler was Ms. Cassander O’Neal and the youngest angler was Jessie Cooke age nine.

Mr. Paul Weiss, BVI VIP Club gold member sat and spoke with the public relations team from the BVI Tourist Board in a video interview. Mr. Weiss is enrolled in the BVI Tourist Board’s BVI VIP loyalty programme where he received gold status as per his 10 plus visits to the Territory. As a gold member he receives VIP treatment upon his arrival to the BVI where he is escorted into our VIP lounge and given a cold beverage while a BVI Tourist Board representative clears him and his guests through customs and immigration as well as retrieve their bags.

The BVI Tourist Board interviewed Mr. Neville Brathwaite Jr. of VI Airlink. VI Airlink is a BVI based airline that recently included scheduled flights between the BVI, San Juan and St. Thomas. What are your thoughts on ways the BVI Tourist Board can best support this local airline? What is your feedback on this airline and its services?
